Face book as educational resource
Face book is a social networking site which was created in 2004 which has since obtained over a billion users, and it has the potential to facilitate learning in the classroom. Students come to school wired and are willing and eager to use technology. It is found easy to teach because learners are curious and more engaged in the assigned task.
I tried integrating face book learning in the classroom.. I found out that Face book is particularly well suited for sharing and discussion of current events in the news. I called the parents of my children who add me to the we-chat and asked the permission of the parents to give them face booking opportunity during the week end. It was for the lesson taught during the week .
I instructed my students to read the taught lesson and if they come across any doubt they are to upload it in the group face book can have the discussion.  I gave a topic each  and divided them into different groups. They are going to share their doubts and their understanding to their own group and make the presentation to the class. It was made clear that it was for educational purpose not personal

 These were some advantages and learning as a result of using face book;
(1) Creating a sense of belonging and promoting cooperation,
(2) Enhancing communication between the community.
 (3) Developing language and communication skills
4) Incorporating current student culture into the learning environment .
5) It is particularly well suited for sharing and discussion of current lesson taught.

We-chat for classroom Teaching and Learning

Integrating We-chat  application in our teaching and learning cycle is beneficial for the teacher and  the learners. We-chat helps teachers to encompass teaching and learning in more organized manner. It is found easy to teach because learners are curious and more engaged in the assigned task. Firstly I could evaluate my own teaching and find out how much students understood.

I tried integrating ICT learning through we-chat the most used application these days. I found out that students have full opportunity on hands on experience. I called the parents of my children who were in my class. I told them to add me to the we-chat and asked the permission of the parents to give them mobile phone for an hour or two during the week end. It was for my lesson taught during the week in English.

I made a condition that they will go and read the taught lesson and if they come across any doubt they are to upload it in the we-chat and the group can have the discussion. They were also instructed and encouraged to upload what they had learned. If they can’t come to the solution then teacher will intervene. It will be an official group and the member will not be allowed to post anything rather than educational questions and queries.

Students learning how to use we-chat
It was found enriching, students were encouraged to explore and discover their own learning and the environment around them. It was easier on my part too.. It was easier to contact students. Students could openly share their doubts. Even a silent student in the class became an active member. They were more comfortable because they have their own setting. It also helped the struggling students to learn with an entertaining approach,

SBIP using ICT gadgets

I got an opportunity to cluster based in-service programme for the duration of Three days on School Art Education for primary level. At the end of workshop  we were asked by the facilitator of the workshop to conduct SBIP back at school. I then internally prepared a plan  to conduct SBIP using different ICT gadgets.

On 20th September 2019  I send a notice to all my colleagues that we are going to have SBIP on Art Education for all the teaching and non- teaching staff. It was especially aimed for the teachers who were teaching lower primary (PP-III). I fixed over head projector in our MPH hall. I also requested them to be present with their cell phone. When I came across few of my colleagues before the commencement of SBIP, they were excited and were asking me the purpose of cell phones but I didn’t reveal and left them under curiosity.

I found that projectors help to transfer information quickly. It also varies the technique of delivering the information and more effective than using chalk and chalk board. I could use short clips, slides and images with various animations. The projector also helped me to make pictures and clips instantly available to the floor

I used the cell phone to do various activities which was assigned to the staff with the use of Bluetooth, Share it and we-chats. I could feel that all of them were fully engaged during the course of my presentation. The participants were also curiously browsing for the answers using their cell phones  and  came out with different solutions. Overall my SBIP was appreciated by all the participants.  “Preaching  a  teacher, it multiplies to thousands classrooms”

ICT in Teaching and Learning
I was privileged to get acquainted with the video tutorial. I once again decided to re-teach the taught topic through video tutorial. I really wanted to see the impact of the lesson.
This module has really helped me as an individual because to fulfill the assigned task, I had to explore lots of resources through the use of ICT gadgets.

The lesson which I taught was a poem “My mother saw a dancing Bear”. It was really challenging at the beginning as I was not aware of how to go about but I overcame my hardship with positive result. I gave second thought to share my work with my students.I had the confidence within me that children would really enjoy the lesson.
I recapitulated the lesson again and I asked them several questions to find out how much they remember. I then said that we will relearn the lesson through video tutorial. I told them to maintain silence and watch the tutorial carefully. They were so excited with the lesson. It was found that children's participation and learning level was to the expectation comparing to the normal class.

When the clip came to an end, I let them do an activity. To was surprise I could see that all the children did it very well. They were actively involved, most of all they were really fascinated by the video lesson, Each child in the group had their own say

To my observation, it really enhances children learning. I felt myself that I can have few more video tutorials which in turn will help both the teacher and learners. It has huge advantage in learning.

Integrating ICT gadgets in classroom

Use Of Cell Phone in the classroom
Cell phones have become an integral part of modern society, and increasingly common among children and adolescents. While there is a valid case to be argued by parents and educators that cell phones are disruptive to the learning environment and can lead to negative behaviors but I found cell phones can enrich and become a useful educational tool in supplementing teaching and learning instruction.
I have allowed my student on 12th August to use cell phone in the lesson which I taught. It was a group work on one of the English lesson. They were given questions and they were asked to browse internet, download images to find the answer. I found that cell phones can be a powerful participation tool in the classroom

I felt that there was great difference in learning and all the students were fully engaged. The class in the whole was busy and learning was found effective. Having mobile devices in the classroom allows students instant access information. Every answer to the question, they had at their fingertips, keeping them connected with what’s going on around them.

Mobile devices in school you can expand learning outside of the classroom. I also observed that there was collaboration in group as students use these devices as research tools during group work.  The students were really excited and engaged in learning inside of the classroom. Lastly I felt that cell phones can help students to stay organized on the assigned task e.g.: group work, homework and projects as they can retrieve lots of information.

IT (Information communication Technology) has taken an central part in our day to day lives. Integrating IT in our teaching and learning cycle is very important and it will be beneficial for all the learners. IT help teachers to encompass more in  organized manner. It is easy to teach because learner is curious and more engaged in the assigned task.

I used technology of IT in class V English. It was on poetry " September - Helen Hunt Jackson. For this lesson I downloaded short clip on different things happening during September.  I also showed them different pictures of different seasons. I felt it was play and learn. They can express their feeling by getting attached with the different real pictures.

I found that, It will allow our students to make their thinking come to reality. It can help them to explore the world outside them when they make a deeper connection with  the technology. It also helps the struggling students to learn with an entertaining approach, Technology helps students to think out of the box as they explore the different societies,.

IT helps students to create real pictures in their mind because they could connect to the learning. It also helps them to survey and determine the thing happening around them. Students are encouraged to explore and  discover their own learning and the environment around them. It helps the learners to generate their own learning.

Two types of communication

Synchronous - real time
Asynchronous - not logged on same time (VLE, Wechat)
Information Communication Technology is being a very important tool in teaching and learning process in 21st century.
We must equip our students with the better knowledge of  the latest technology.
