SBIP using ICT gadgets

I got an opportunity to cluster based in-service programme for the duration of Three days on School Art Education for primary level. At the end of workshop  we were asked by the facilitator of the workshop to conduct SBIP back at school. I then internally prepared a plan  to conduct SBIP using different ICT gadgets.

On 20th September 2019  I send a notice to all my colleagues that we are going to have SBIP on Art Education for all the teaching and non- teaching staff. It was especially aimed for the teachers who were teaching lower primary (PP-III). I fixed over head projector in our MPH hall. I also requested them to be present with their cell phone. When I came across few of my colleagues before the commencement of SBIP, they were excited and were asking me the purpose of cell phones but I didn’t reveal and left them under curiosity.

I found that projectors help to transfer information quickly. It also varies the technique of delivering the information and more effective than using chalk and chalk board. I could use short clips, slides and images with various animations. The projector also helped me to make pictures and clips instantly available to the floor

I used the cell phone to do various activities which was assigned to the staff with the use of Bluetooth, Share it and we-chats. I could feel that all of them were fully engaged during the course of my presentation. The participants were also curiously browsing for the answers using their cell phones  and  came out with different solutions. Overall my SBIP was appreciated by all the participants.  “Preaching  a  teacher, it multiplies to thousands classrooms”

ICT in Teaching and Learning
I was privileged to get acquainted with the video tutorial. I once again decided to re-teach the taught topic through video tutorial. I really wanted to see the impact of the lesson.
This module has really helped me as an individual because to fulfill the assigned task, I had to explore lots of resources through the use of ICT gadgets.

The lesson which I taught was a poem “My mother saw a dancing Bear”. It was really challenging at the beginning as I was not aware of how to go about but I overcame my hardship with positive result. I gave second thought to share my work with my students.I had the confidence within me that children would really enjoy the lesson.
I recapitulated the lesson again and I asked them several questions to find out how much they remember. I then said that we will relearn the lesson through video tutorial. I told them to maintain silence and watch the tutorial carefully. They were so excited with the lesson. It was found that children's participation and learning level was to the expectation comparing to the normal class.

When the clip came to an end, I let them do an activity. To was surprise I could see that all the children did it very well. They were actively involved, most of all they were really fascinated by the video lesson, Each child in the group had their own say

To my observation, it really enhances children learning. I felt myself that I can have few more video tutorials which in turn will help both the teacher and learners. It has huge advantage in learning.
